Umbra - Neck Assembly
SUMMARY
Umbra, the Guardian of The Mask Of Life. But with neck armour that doesn't look like some kind of weird Frankenstien thing.
BACKGROUND:
Umbra’s kind of weird.
Supposedly “Umbra” is a Matoran word which means “darkest part of a shadow”, and yet we have a set with a green and Keetorange colour scheme? And it’s just generally weird.
Everyone replaces the wheel pins with friction pins, which helps stabilise the set, but there’s one other thing that always bothered me. Those weapon pieces over the shoulders were just super rigid and awkward looking. So this instruction pack shows how I built a new assembly around the neck to allow better positioning that falls more like armour.
NOTES:
Build Umbra according to all regular instructions, inserting this assembly around step 7/8 in place of the 3L axle and bushing that the 32174 Keetorange neck ball joint then attaches to.
If you want, and I’d suggest it, replace the pins for the wheels with friction pins. Otherwise, you have no shot at displaying this set.
In the model shown on my Instagram and some of the promo photos, I’ve added Hydraxon style fingers in place of the black Slizer feet and split the weapon down into its two Inika weapon parts.
Download includes PDF instructions to build my version of the neck assembly, NOT the full model.
